With ever-increasing competition in the eCommerce arena, it has become more important for e-commerce businesses to focus on customer needs and wants in order to stand out and succeed in the market.
I’ve seen SO many failed bundle attempts on every platform.
I read sob stories all the time from wanna-be bundlers who think they can just throw a few things randomly into a polybag and then it doesn’t sell.
They claim “Bundling doesn’t work!” or “Amazon doesn’t work!”
In everyone of those instances the seller broke the absolute #1 cardinal rule
“Build your bundle from the CUSTOMER perspective.”
Look, I know being an eComm seller isn’t easy, and can be fraught with challenges.
But when you build your business with a “customer-centric” approach, you DRASTICALLY increase your chances of selling (and serving!) a market.
So what does it mean to have a Customer Focus?
I’m glad you asked!
First, You want to really get into the head and heart of the people in the target market you want to create product bundles for.
Doing this FIRST, before you buy any product, will help you really understand what products to include in that bundle.
You only want to include items that will serve and delight the customer.
NEVER just toss a random item into a bundle for the sole purpose of no other seller being able to hop on your listing.
That’s self-serving, and will do NOTHING to sell your bundle.
When you understand what a customer is passionate about, what makes them smile, what makes them say “Shut up and take my money!”, then you have a winning bundle!
So how do you do that?
- First, you have to get out of your own head.
- You have to imagine the life and circumstances of your ideal customer USING your products.
- How are they using it?
- What activities are they engaged in when using your product?
- What ELSE are they using at that moment?
- What items might be useful for them, or enhance the use of a product in your bundle?
Notice the common theme in all of the questions:
They are all centered around the CUSTOMER, not around us.
Get out of your own head.
Practice thinking like your ideal customer today.
